RALLY CALL FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Dear HTC Members,
Barbara and I are on our way toward Canyonville OR, SEVEN FEATHERS RV Resort and our Annual National Rally. The Rally site in Oregon was selected for its availability to the many wonders of Oregon. The spectacular Oregon Coast is less than 100 miles from the I-5 corridor and Medford OR, the home of Harry and David which offers tours of the processing plant and orchards and they even have an outlet store. Oregon has some splendid wineries and there are many tourist spots, national and state parks to visit. Crater Lake is only 110 miles from the rally. I highly recommend the drive along the coast and stopping in the towns to sight see. Camping along the coast during the summer is fun and the sights you can see are great. The Columbia River Gorge is a must! Silverton and the Oregon gardens are a special place to visit. The Washington side of the River is also good. We took that trip several years ago and did the paddle wheeler as Dudley suggested in the last HTC newsletter, he was very correct it was quite the experience. Our Rally will be held at the Seven Feathers Resort and Casino in Canyonville, OR. Canyonville is in southern Oregon on Interstate 5 and Seven Feathers RV Resort is one of the nation's highest-rated RV parks. The sites are concrete pull-throughs and have full hookups and all services including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The concrete pads are 16 to 18 feet wide with a patio "bulge" and look to be convenient for most wheelchair lifts. A great meeting room with kitchen and big screen TV will be rented and a BBQ pavilion is available for rent if needed. There is an indoor heated pool with a portable lift mechanism.

The cost per night is $30 for the four rally nights. Nights outside the rally dates are billed at the park's standard rates. Standard rates for pull-troughs are $33-$41 and for back-ins $30-$37, depending on any discounts you may have (Good Sam, AAA, etc.). The Best Western hotel is close to the RV Park, within power chair rolling distance at least, and the prices range from $80 to $170. They require that 20 rooms be booked before any discounts will be given. Their phone number is (541) 839-4200. The best deal is at the hotel attached to the Seven Feathers Casino, which is on the other side of the interstate from the RV Park. Rates start at $109 but with a Casino Players Club Card (no cost), rates are $59-$89, old wing (two roll-in showers), or $74-$99, new wing (eight roll-ins). Price includes a buffet breakfast and bus transport to the RV Park 24/7. When making reservations, ask for the Players Club Card rate and upon arrival, get your Players Club Card (with your photo ID) and present it for the discount when you check out. Reservations: e-mail (sevenfeathers.com) or (800) 548-8461. This will be the first time a national rally has been held in Oregon and we've been in business since 1973. Oregon folks tell us that September is the best time of year for a rally in their lovely state. A lot of interest has already been expressed. Hope to see you there! Please send your application and $30.00 to our Wagonmaster, Ed Pearson 5929 Our Way Citrus CA. 95610 BEFORE AUG 1 2010. ecpearson@juno.com. You must reserve by August 1 to guarantee a site with the group.

Several folks have already asked about nearby motels and rates. Here's some info that will be helpful:

If you plan to attend, let wagonmaster Ed Pearson know and he'll send you a registration form. Return the form by August 1 with $30 for the first night's stay. You'll pay the park for the other three nights and any extra nights when you check in (cash or credit card only, no personal checks).
